CRAZY PUMPKIN ROLL DOWN A HILL
Updated: Jun 11, 2020

Yes, it's a thing!
In 2007, my family and I travelled all around Australia and I co-ordinated our trip to catch as many crazy weird festivals that I could, this was one of them. The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, in Queensland Australia, where hundreds of pumpkins are rolled down a hill in town and the winner is the one who gets closest to the marker.
"It is hilarious to watch the pumpkins roll, sometimes metres in the air, and land in a giant splatter."
It can be insane, with rouge pumpkins venturing into the crowds and have been known to knock people out on the way down, we definitely had to duck for cover a few times. The festival is growing each year, quicker than the pumpkins themselves I presume. I'd recommend a visit at least once in your life.

A Great Pumpkin Roll - Art by Tanya Loviz
Pumpkins have the best curves with perfect undulations, I could not resist extracting the female energy out of them, putting them in frilly knickers and turning them into a Loviz Hot Pot. Can you see how the art was inspired by this crazy event?
Watch the video & photos below to see the artwork details and happenings at the event.

POETRY
Once a year
In the little town of Goomeri
Where the sun often shines
Folks come
from various towns
to watch
the Roll
The Mighty
The Grand
The Great ... Pumpkin Roll
Yes, hundreds of pumpkins
are held underarms and then RELEASED
to run FREEEEEE!
Down
the
hill
They Roll & Rock & occasionally Splat
some reaching a few metres on their last bounce
But what a Good Bye Bounce
And the winner is ...
The one who lands closest to the mark
And all of us are ...
